Upward Basketball: St. Mark is a partner in the Columbus Community Upward League. This league is a combined effort of St. Mark, St. Luke United Methodist Church, Wynnbrook Baptist Church and First Baptist Church. Children in grades K-8 are encouraged to participate. Unique aspects of Upward include an evaluation system that promotes equal and competitive teams as well as a substitution system which allows for equal playing time for all participants. Practices and games occur at any of the four participating churches (based on the gym set-up). The season begins in early November and goes through January (with a break during the school calendar Christmas Vacation). Registration forms can be picked up at the Activity Center, at any of the participating churches or downloaded from the Upward Unlimited website.
Pick-up Basketball: There are multiple opportunities throughout the week to play basketball. Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon at 12:00 pm and Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm. Any are welcome to participate.
Pick-up Softball: Each Monday (during the off-season), anyone interested in playing some softball for fun or practice is invited to come. Contact Jenny Dallas for information on where and when, but typically meets at Rosehill Heights Field on Hamilton Rd. or Alexander Field just off Veterans Pkwy. at 7:00 pm.
Church League Softball: St. Mark participates in the Columbus Parks and Recreation Church Softball Leagues. A Men's team and a Co-ed team are fielded each spring. Practices start in March with the season beginning in early April and ending in June (based on tournament scheduling). St. Mark church members and visitors are welcomed to participate (all must either attend St. Mark regularly or attend another church regularly if they cannot field a team).
College-age Open Gym: Every Saturday night, college age folks are invited to play basketball, volleyball, racquetball, etc. The gym will be open for this group from 6 pm - 8 pm. Contact Ward Jordan for more information.
