SHOEBOXES FOR DEPLOYED SOLDIERS
Back in 2003, our Missions Committee participated in the launch of the “Shoeboxes for Soldiers” Campaign. The purpose of this campaign was to collect useful personal items in “care packages” and then send them overseas to deployed servicemen and women with connections to St. Mark. At that time, a special offering was collected to help cover the postage and shipping costs. Sadly, almost 5 years later, we are still at war and the funds collected in 2003 have been exhausted. If you would like to make a special offering to help us continue this worthwhile ministry, please write “Shoeboxes for Soldiers” on your check or offering envelope. Thank you!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY IN 2008
If you are looking for an opportunity to work with kids and love sports, then help out with Upward Basketball. We are in need of scoreboard operators and referees for January 12th, 19th and February 2nd. We will be hosting games beginning at 9am and going until roughly 1pm. No qualifications are needed, just a willingness to encourage kids and have fun. See Shannon Baxter for info (shannon@stmarkumc.com).

THANKSGIVING OUTREACH - THANK YOU!
Thank you all so much, St. Mark generous and caring people. Your contributions (close to $2000.00) bought 750 canned hams for distribution primarily to the needy in the South Columbus UMC area and at Open Door. Special thanks also go to those Sunday School classes who each contributed several packages of ham. Many thanks also to those who generously donated groceries to go with the hams. We collected 50 bags! Thanks again and God bless each one of you.

Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah's Ark One : Don't miss the boat. Two : Remember that we are all in the same boat. Three : Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark. Four : Stay fit When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big. Five : Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done. Six : Build your future on high ground. Seven ! : For safety's sake, travel in pairs. Eight : Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs. Nine : When you're stressed, float a while. Ten : Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals. Eleven : No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

May your troubles be less,
may your blessings be more,
and may nothing but happiness
come through your door!
