by Rev. Rich Wright Are you ready to C.A.R.E.? Do you really want to C.A.R.E.? Do we as a church really C.A.R.E.? The C.A.R.E. ministry is the result of asking and answering these difficult questions. There are many thousands of unchurched people in our city. We currently have 1 out of 3 church members attending a worship service on a regular basis. We seem to be wanting a way to serve our community and church while we are faithful to the Great Commission that Jesus gave us. Our only desire is to see that we, as a church, understand the Great Commission and how we can use the God-given gifts to C.A.R.E. for those around you. We want to see Christians Actively Reaching Everyone. C.A.R.E. is not a program, but an ongoing ministry adapted to the gifts and needs of our church and community. C.A.R.E. is not a substitute or a replacement for any current ministries, but is a support ministry. C.A.R.E. is a new ministry that asks each church member to give God only 1 hour and 20 minutes per month on a Tuesday evening. If you can pray or write cards or talk on the telephone or visit people or guide kids in projects or care for little children, then you can C.A.R.E.! The C.A.R.E. ministry will meet on Tuesdays in the Chapel at either 6:30 PM or 7 PM. The beginning time is decided upon by the weekly teams. We need 4 teams, which means 1 team for each week of the month. Each team has 5 work areas, which are writing, calling, visiting, kid-CARE, and childcare. The prayer team is our Intercessory Prayer Group that meets on Tuesdays. The Shut-in Visitation is coordinated through Mary Hill. We are currently enrolling people into the 4 teams. "C" Team meets on the 1st Tuesday evening of the month. "A" Team meets on the 2nd Tuesday evening of the month. "R" Team meets on the 3rd Tuesday evening of the month. "E" Team meets the 4th Tuesday evening of the month. We are looking for 4 team Captains that will oversee the weekly team activities, conduct the welcome and closing, assist in recruiting new members, and ensure clean-up of the work areas. We are looking for 20 Area Co-Captains (5 for each week) that will work and supervise one work area (Writing, Calling, Visiting, Kid CARE, and Childcare ), assist in recruiting new members, and ensure set-up and clean up of the work area. We need as many C.A.R.E. Givers as possible to facilitate the C.A.R.E. ministries. For only 1 hour and 20 minutes one Tuesday evening per month, you can show that you C.A.R.E.! We will be conducting enrollment -into the C.A.R.E. ministry for the next several weeks. You can enroll by completing an enrollment form at the C.A.R.E. table in the Narthex. You can get on the ground floor of this new ministry opportunity! |
